AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF HARRISON COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI, TO PURCHASE APPROPRIATE INSURANCE TO PROVIDE PROTECTION FOR A LOSS IN TAX REVENUE DERIVED FROM THE OPERATION OF CRUISE VESSELS ON WHICH LEGAL GAMING IS CONDUCTED WHEN SUCH LOSS RESULTS FROM A NATURAL DISASTER THAT CAUSES SUCH VESSELS TO CEASE THEIR GAMING OPERATIONS; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. The Board of Supervisors of Harrison County, Mississippi, is authorized and empowered, in its discretion, to purchase appropriate insurance to provide protection for a loss in tax revenue derived from the operation of cruise vessels on which legal gaming is conducted when such loss in revenue results from a natural disaster that causes such vessels to cease their gaming operations for any period of time.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage, and shall be repealed on July 1, 2002.
